Who we are
Kate Hanssen Bohara
Kate has a background in Community Development, Employment services, Adult Education, Meditation, natural health and Counselling. She has a keen interest in indigenous cultures and spent over 12 months in Nepal after the Earthquake supporting the relief effort and raising over $50,000 with the help of other tourists. She speaks basic Nepalese as well. She has spent time in remote areas learning about culture and traditions in both Australia and Nepal. She has travelled extensively throughout Asia and has visited Ethiopia as well. Kate believes that there is a real need to support the Nepalese to be able to earn an income and receive education that is practical and up to date with the developed nations eg: social media platfoms to enhance their businesses, however it is equally important to maintain their culture and traditions where practical and helpful. She believes the tourism industry is the key to making this a reality in Nepal through cross cultural sharing, mentorship and projects that sustain and protect Nepalese culture.
Govinda has a big Nepali heart. I met him in 2013 when he was a porter or Sherpa on our trek. His knowledge and passion for Nepal is phenomenal and Govinda has so much to offer tourists with his stories and knowledge of the culture and Nepali life. Don’t be afraid to ask him anything.
We have worked together throughout 2015 post earthquake on multiple missions, he playing a significant role in actioning logistics and problem solving. His ability to connect and communicate on the ground with villagers and locals has made him a brilliant trekking guide and he has completed a BA in Business/Marketing in Nepal. Govinda knows all too well the trials and hardships of Nepalese life and is a great inspiration to others in his local community. Now living in Australia with me, he has adapted quickly and easily which has only improved his ability to connect and understand the needs of our trekkers.
Max is 22 years of age and has spent 5 months in Nepal, India and various other countries including Cambodia, USA and Canada in 2015. He has a keen interest in trekking and adventure. He has a first level paragliding instructors qualification, first aid level 2, Diploma in Shiatsu (Eastern Medicine) and over 5 years hospitality and customer service experience in Australia.
Max is continuing studies in the adventure/outdoor education sector and is committed to supporting The Reconnection Tribe as an Ambassador and Adventure leader. Supporting Govinda and Kamal on the ground as an advocate and medium between tourists and the Nepalese people. Max’s Nepalese language skills are certainly on the improve.
Kamal has a beautiful energy that is gentle and unassuming, he has assisted us throughout our previous treks and has a lovely way with tourists and locals alike, he happily helps out with bags too when people need a break. He is keen to be involved and I am enthusiastic about giving him an opportunity to gain some experience with tourists and improving his future prospects for ongoing employment. Kamal is an example of the type of training, experience and support we would like to offer local Nepalese of the western region. His English and confidence has improved tremendously due to this experience.

Nepal trekking Guide
Santosh Nepali, is one of our most experienced trekking Guides in Nepal. He grew up in a small family, in a Village called Astam, which is 17 km northwest from Pokhara.
The amazing views of Annapurna Himalayan range can be viewed from his home, so he loves it when people come to stay with him at home. When you trek with us you can learn a lot about Nepali tradition, village life, dance and culture.
Santosh has been successfully leading trekking & tours all over Nepal from 2011. He has also had formal training with the Ministry of Tourism as a trekking guide.
He loves his job and still gets excited to tour guide and take you on some of the most beautiful trails in the Himalayas.
He says; My main focus is making sure your Holiday will be something you never forget, a once in a lifetime Experience! We love working with locals like Santosh because he will take you to those unexpected, secret local places, where you can enjoy the ‘real Nepal’ taking Photographs and learning about Culture and Tradition of Nepal.
We love working with Santosh for two reasons, 1; because he has a great natural affinity as a guide and knows a lot about Nepal and 2; because he is so attentive to our beautiful trekkers.
